Five Grooming Secrets Every Pet Parent Should Know

Grooming is an art. Not just because a Pet Pro can style a tangled mass of fluff into a super stylish doggie-do, but the true art of grooming is the process. As each dog offers a new challenge, pros rely on experience gathered over the years, tips and tricks and practiced techniques to get the job done. Here are five secrets to stress-free grooming that every Pet Parent should know.

1. BRUSH FIRST
Always brush your dog first before her bath. When tangled fur gets wet, the tangles tighten, creating matting very difficult to brush out. If your dog is restless for brushing, spray her with GreenDog Botanics Calm Spray before you begin, she will be a lot easier to work with.

2. BRUSH INSTEAD
If you are short on time but your dog needs a clean-up, brush her and save the bath for later. Spritz fur with GreenDog Botanics Skin Spray, then brush debris and dirt out of fur, your dog will look clean and smell fresh. Be sure to use GreenDog Botanics Calm Spray, to sooth your restless dog.

3. GUMMY FUR
To remove gum or grease from dog’s hair, rub peanut butter into the substance, when debris dissolves, remove with a comb. Remove peanut butter by applying GreenDog Botanics Skin Spray. Rub briskly with towel.

4. DISTRACTIONS
Trouble trimming nails? Or just getting your pup to stand still? A little peanut butter smeared on puppies’ nose is a great distraction.

5. DIY DRY SHAMPOO
Combine one cup cornstarch with one tablespoon of GreenDog Botanics Calm Spray. Mix thoroughly. When dry apply cornstarch liberally to dry fur. Massage in, brush out. Your dog is clean and calm with a fresh Lavender scent.

If none of these tips work for you here is one BONUS secret…

HOW TO GET A SAME DAY GROOMING APPOINTMENT
Company is coming, your smelly dog is all mud and dreds, and you forgot to make a grooming appointment!  If your pet stylist is too busy to fit your fur kiddo in for a groom ask if your dog could be squeezed in for a bath only, or if not a bath, a simple brush-out. There is a chance the stylist will have time for one of these options. A little Pet Pro TLC will guarantee you pup will be ready for visitors even without a new haircut.
